Codex set to make profit at the Arcade from a sale at Turbosquid

Codex release for Arcade is a complete TurboSuid set which was illegally uploaded to Second Life for $11.00. Now that’s gonna be a profit! Great work Arcade in screening your designers.

  1. Never understood how, with all the talk of ripped assets from 3D websites, that the one brand that has gotten away for years doing it still goes untouched. Sau is probably the worst violator in all of SL. Here is a current one being sold at a very popular event. Many more examples exist. I would venture, based on what a group in SL has recently discovered with Sau, that the majority of his entire store is from Turbosquid, CGTrader and others.

  2. All of you supporting Apple Fall have you something else to gain except the “ASSLICKERS” title?

I, my husband and some of our friends, developers, builders, we all know about the provenience of Apple’s mesh for a very long time.
He think that we are all stupid and he is lying to us all. This is his thanks for our kindness people!

Basically all you Apple Fall fans/bloggers are thievery supporters!
      He uses YOU all.
The pictures he posted on plurk are not a prove that Apple Fall is building his mesh from scratch. Builders know what i’m talking about.
Are just simple pictures of a dismembered model as someone mentioned here below.
He altered the model, remapped and backed other textures.

  3. For those here that felt it necessary to attack Apple, a credible, talented, and hard working designer. And further called me a “retard” etc for defending here what I knew was legitimate work. I now suggest you go to his Plurk to review the work flow posted and photos from his dev of the food truck which has been one of the chosen items you attacked him for. Next time have the balls to talk to a creator privately if you suspect rather than attempt to destroy him and create a false narrative and perception with the public.
Of course, what good would that do in light of your real objective: to attempt to tarnish someone you are clearly jealous of.

Today, when you look in the mirror, I hope you see the pathetic nature of your accusations and who you are as people. Yes, I mean you Suspicious and lolwhat.

      2. Oh for goodness sake, some of you need to get a grip on reality. Apple Falls van, he created it. Jealousy is showing its ugly rear head yet again, look at the two vans and spot the differences. It is quite evident that they are not the same, however, accusing someone of something you know nothing of is all fair and well, but get some facts straight.

Just because others do it, does not mean that everyone else is. Lets talk about his sets that he has created, it is very possible for one person to be able to create these items. You are acting that he is releasing every week with new items, when he is not. He takes his time, he researches the items he wants to add to his collections and he creates them from scratch. It is very easy to go onto these third party sites, and you can find sets/items easily. However, he has not stolen/ripped/bought from these places.

I can answer the same for Consignment and Dust Bunny. It seems to be the thing where people can just jump on a bandwagon and start pointing fingers without actually looking at things clearly. Dust Bunny creates her own items, and I have seen her work on her items as well. She can make sets fast, and puts the effort in.

Before, I start getting called names because I dare to speak up for these individuals, go ahead and do it. However, I have seen the facts for myself and I will not read this garbage because people are spinning webs that are not true. All designers get inspired by images/things they see in real life, and then they create it in SL. Does that mean they are instantly ripping it or using it from sites such as cgtrader? No.

The evidence is clear, and Apple Fall is not using others work and passing it off as his own. Whoever checked the dates, clearly did not thoroughly check. It is easy to model items when you know what you are doing. Some just have more talent than others.

As for his vendor ads being render ads? Wrong. They are all taken in Second Life with windlights that everyone can use.

Just stop pointing fingers, accusing people of things you do not know of, or calling people names. Should be ashamed of yourselves, honestly. Shaming his textures when he does have great textures, and his work has been getting more amazing with each release. If he was such a fraud, then why do others mimic him? Because he is great at what he does, you know it and I know it.

It is all fair and well to hide behind PC screens and bully others, but I hate to break it to all of you, you are wrong about Apple Fall, Consignment and Dust Bunny.

    1. I am still not convinced. Further, seems people are jumping the bandwagon of just assuming without looking at the two closely. This is not like Codex. The items were exact to every small detail. This truck has many differences including the roof which is the most obvious. Finally, I highly doubt that someone with such a profile like Apple Fall would be so obvious as to bring things in from TurboSquid which is always in sight line of SL people. Even CP was using more obscure Russian sites for assets. This is based on a real life food truck for sure – in which I would surmise both artists, Apple Fall and the Turbosquid creator, individually made to their style. Much like two creators in SL that accidentally make the same item from inspiration. Happens all the time.

      Like

        1. Calling someone “a retard” who points out that the two trucks do not have the same details does little for your credibility. Perhaps you would care to explain why they are different and how that supports your bold accusations rather than resort to childish Trumpian name calling. At this juncture your two arguments have been that Apple releases too much so he MUST be using assets and, second, that a few of his items are found on Turbo Squid. I have responded that I do not see him releasing that much at all. Perhaps a set of items each month and a random release. I believe in December Apple had one event and one main store release. As to the second point neither items shown here are exact as in the Codex example, which I believe this post was originally about. The truck especially, while a “real life” inspiration, has numerous differences from that in TurboSquid, including the roof as I pointed out. This was not some uniquely crafted piece from imagination. If you google food trucks it appears in countless forms of the same model with these variations.

So, again, everyone is waiting for you to present tangible proof and real references rather than what appears to be blind accusations and loose assumptions from a jealous competitor.

          1. I have been watching this train wreck from afar and finally decided to step in with a few points as a professional in this field. I do not condone calling others names at all, but there is some truth to what lolwhat is saying.

I understand your request for “tangible” proof, but reality of it is, unless someone is able to hack his computer or install a hidden camera in his room it is impossible to provide the tangible proof you are asking for. That is exactly what him (and people like him) are banking on and that’s how so many are getting away with it. There are some key points here that gives me enough evidence here for me to say “yep ..something is not right here”.

Too many assets being created in an unreasonably short amount of time. I went through his flickr and looked at his releases and dates of his releases and the contents of each release (specially the gachas). Even as someone who does this professionally, i cannot imagine any one person being able to create all that in that timeframe, specially when you add in the extra steps you have to take for sl content creation.

What he is doing is downloading these meshes and making small adjustments to them, so he can always have say the “but it’s not exactly the same” in his defence. Yeah but 95% of it is, more importantly all the major structures are the same, the parts that are different are the parts that are easily modifiable. We are seeing so many examples of this, not just this truck, almost all of his releases you can find a mesh somewhere for download that is 95% similar. I can completely understand this being hard to believe as someone who doesn’t do this as a profession and to an untrained eye they may look different, but believe me if you want professional opinion, that truck is the same one in the model, slightly modified.

There are also a lot more technical aspects and workflow inconsistencies that i can point out, but it would just make this point go on and on and it would be harder and harder for people who aren’t artist to understand it. If anyone wanted more details you can ask.

just my 2cents, now carry on with your bickering 😀

            1. I understand you say you are a professional, and by being a professional, I invite you to take a look at both low poly and high poly images along with the UV maps provided on that turbo squid link. The first notable difference is at the front under the lights. On the turbo squid model there is small bottom light inexistent to Apple’s model. Hell of a nightmare to have to cover that up. The side section before the great opening is completely different. Then go into Second Life and analyze the geometry. Even comparing with the low poly model using wire frame view in Second life, it’s clear the geometry, specially at the front is not the same. Yes, details could have been changed, of course. But really, anyone who meshes knows how hard it is to get 1. a model made from another person for adjustments 2. a fairly high poly model to be adjusted to Second life. I mean, really? I would mesh it from zero so much work it is to adjust these polys. Regarding the releases, yes, it is possible for an experienced designer to release that much and in so little time. We often save mesh parts that are re-used, experienced designers can mesh an entire building in 12 hours, and with Substance Painter, which was used by Apple Fall in this model (clearly looking at the metal wear), your texture time decreases at least 3 times. So, my point is, unless it’s a blatant copy like Cheaky Pea and Codex, this is not valid. This is not a copy and I am with Curly, this is a mesh after the same real life model.

              Like

        2. So help this “retard” out. There are, from my count, 15 different variations in the food cart shown here as an example. If a professional, as you say, I will ask that you tell me where the time management benefit is to bring in an asset like this and spend the time altering 15+ areas of it for release? Again, asking as a “retard.” Help me to see the light of your accusations as I need simple and tangible proof rather than speculation given my limited ability to comprehend.

          Like

          1. I know this is a trap and a complete waste of time, because i will spend the time explaining it, and you will deny it and say “it’s not proof enough”. The fact you had to ask shows that you don’t know enough to be arguing on this topic. Yet knowing this im going to humor you anyway.

The truck provided on the site is a 3ds max file, which means it’s using turbosmooth modifier, which means it already has a lowpoly base model built under the turbo stack (if trubro stack is collapsed it can be restructured similar to how zbrush does it, since it’s a flat multiplication equation it can be reverted by division of 4) If you know anything about subdivisional modeling, you would know all that surface details (example the strip extrusion on the door) is a simple a boxed extrusion on the base model below the turbo stack, all you have to do to remove it is drop 2 edge loops, delete the center, cap center, literally 3-4 clicks. Since UVs are already cut and smoothed, all you need to do is press 1 key with borders frozen (or not) to auto resmooth it since the UV work is already done.

As with any subD modeling, the base model is low and can be easily modified, example the roof can be extended, or a single edge can be moved to change the curve, the angle of the curve or a bevel, a simple controlled edge can be dropped that doesn’t affect UVs, while it can control the bevel depth. You can lower the subD level to 1 to easily and effortlessly get a curved surface or smoother surface (it would be higher poly than you’d need, but this is why you see apple fall stuff not properly optimized because they are not made from scratch they are modified in this manner)

So there you have it, that’s how it works. instead of spending the 3-4 days (for a absolutely professional, for most it would be 5 days + for that truck model, assuming 8 hour work days) he spends couple of hours. This is Just for the modeling and texturing mind you, not retopo, sl set up, animations, uploads, baking sl textures, huds blah blah. This is how you see brands like this release large gachas with highly detailed items so often. This is exactly why you keep finding AF stuff that are 95% similar to something else on a website for download, it’s not “accident”, it’s not 2 people used the same reference, how many times can that happen? and who the hell would even make a truck like that? the truck being sold on the site is poorly modeled for accuracy in professional standards to begin with, and i find it hard to believe AF keeps stumbling across the same references as people on turbosquid or other sites, and even if two artists use the same reference there would be key differences in modeling approach. These are 95% identical.

There is a lot more in depth reasons that are more technical, i just don’t have the time to list them.

Now I know you don’t care about facts and you are just fangirling and defending a friend, but i decided to humor you anyway in case there are any neutral readers here who wanted an actual more in depth reasons of why few artists here are pointing fingers at AF.

            1. I’m curious, have you purchased the asset referenced to look at it? As the 3ds file can come cleaned and the high poly smooth could have been lost.

              1. Did you read what i said? at all? I literally explained that in my post. I literally went over if turbosmooth is collapsed there is reverse turbo smooth. You clearly don’t even understand the basics of 3d modeling yet are here trying to defend someone when professionals are providing evidence. Subdividing is multiplication by 4, even a 3rd grader knows anything that is multiplied by 4, can be divided by 4 as many times as it was multiplied. Shit …why am i even wasting time here?

  4. When CP got exposed my first 2 thoughts were:
    1. I’m not surprised, she was releasing way too many things way too often. I was always suspicious of her.
    2. How did these people even know of all these sites to even catch her? The people exposing her must be frequent visitors of such sites. I would have no idea where to even look for 3d models, im spending my time modeling and texturing as fast as i can, who has time for that?

Apple Fall was one of the main people exposing CP, but now consider the fact a few years ago CP exposed Apple Fall in exactly the same manner. Same principles apply. Both brands releasing way too many detailed work, too often to be doing it themselves. Both brands are far “too familiar” with various lesser known 3d websites and sources for downloading meshes. Both parties have been accused several times over the past years.

Look at CP since she was caught, look at the shit she is making, how long it’s taking her to make those super nooby dumb looking meshes. Like the quality of her stuff has gone down 800% and speed of her releases have been reduced significantly.

Wake up people, all these brands CP, Codex, Apple Fall, Dust Bunny, etc they are all doing it. Some of them are a bit smarter, modifying or decimating their meshes, swapping certain parts, but any real artist who does this line of work can tell when they are kit bashing and smashing random pieces together.

-It takes time to create high detailed items, it doesn’t matter how good you are, how fast you are, how amazing “pro” you are, it takes time to model, UV, texture, Set up on sl, add animations, adjust animations, render textures, render ads, composite ads, set up huds, set up vendors.- Wake up customers and event organizers and get a little smarter about this.

    1. First of all, yes, C.P was busted and busted hard. But with that this does not warrant an instant accusation that other big names (or even smaller ones) are automatically doing it as well. Not one single bit of evidence or proof is offered here regarding Apple or Dust Bunny. Also, there is a group in SL checking and looking at all work being released by designers to find those who, like Codex, are doing it. Both C.P. and Codex the evidence was shown and overwhelming. There was no denying it (though they tried). About Apple Fall and Dust Bunny, where is your evidence they do? The chair posted here is not the same as an example. No one has offered any “proof.” Just your saying that they release a few times a month and so it’s impossible it’s “authentic” is total BS. People who have been doing this for a long time get faster and better and with new technology and creating software have a lot more resources. If you have doubts or questions why not ask them directly? I know a few creators and they save EVERYTHING in their design process in case an event owner or shopper ever doubts. Often they post videos in Facebook of them working as well. To me these loose accusations sound more like other butt hurt creators who have never been able to gain popularity because their skills are not great, they lack any design experience, and their releases suck. Finally, I don’t see Dust Bunny and Apple releasing at the same pace as fashion. Look at Scandalize and Blueberry. They have new releases practically every week. While I am sure they have staff I also highly doubt that they are doing anything shady. So, until you offer more than speculation and direct proof as in the case of those who have been actually caught I am going to assume you are nothing more than a washed up creator who is jealous of other’s popularity and talent.

      Like

      1. Neither Blueberry nor Scandalize make their own content either. They all hire meshers (though that’s very different than downloading meshes and uploading them to sl like codex, CP, Apple fall etc) Wake up and smell the coffee lol.

Not gonna type you my reasoning over and over again, if you care you read it it’s already there. When the logistics don’t make sense, is the biggest red flag of it all. It’s impossible to create that much content that quickly. Certain things being released, no matter how good you are it takes time. To model, UV, Texture, upload and set up on sl, adding animations, adjusting animations, rigging (if clothing) rendering your textures, rendering your ads, doing your huds, setting up your vendors. Some of these people are releasing 2-3 full set of items a month, with all that. Use your common sense. Even professionals, the best of the best can’t create this quickly, or games wouldn’t take 2-3 years to make with massive teams of over 1000 people. Not to mention the inconsistency in their quality, like the example of this couch posted that apple fall released.

I’m assuming you are just a nobody who doesn’t know what they are talking about and is just here to defend their fav designer!!!

        1. You are correct about one thing. I am a nobody. But a nobody who when hears galloping outside does not instantly assume it’s a zebra. The bottom line is that you provide no visual proof. You base your accusations on what? That they release two or three items a month so they MUST be using purchased assets? How is that a smoking gun Mr. Somebody? You sound like a paranoid Trump watching Fox News in his bathrobe pacing around in a delusional state about the terrorist masses invading our borders. If you are so concerned and so sure of this – have you actually spoken to the creators you are messing with here and asked them to provide their work flow and show you the process? Of course not, because that would actually involve courage and reason over what you really want: to bully hard working creators while hiding behind a screen with no proof other than loose speculation. Why should you let the truth or facts get in the way of what you really want, to create suspicion and hurt people you are jealous of. So until you show actual proof here and/or share your conversations with the creators who you are working to destroy you come with no credibility and are sounding more and more like someone who HAS been called out for this himself and wants to take innocent people with him.

        2. The owner of Blueberry actually does mesh her items. She simply has a rigger to work for her. Dust Bunny could also have a team of meshers. Many big brands do. And there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s no difference in a brand that has 4 original content creators versus one – other than the number of people. The brand is still original. I don’t know why anyone is worried about the behind the scenes of how many people are involved in brands. The work is split fairly, the money earned is split fairly. Don’t drag brands who have a team in with brands who blatantly break rules.
On the note of creating not being fast… I can personally create 4 full sets of items in a month. I don’t do that because I’m lazy af, but I have a highly successful brand, and I’m here to tell you it can be done by one person alone if you work in accessories or furniture/decor and you work smart and efficiently. Many of these events, you know you will do them at least a month, if not more, in advance. Arcade for example, you know 2 months in advance you are invited and doing it.
I don’t care if you believe me or not, but I couldn’t read your bullshit anymore without saying something. You speak like someone who pretends to know the ins and outs of creation and even pro game design, but realistically, any of us who do work like that know you are full of shit. Nice try though.

          1. Blueberry not making her own meshes is not up for debate, it’s a well known fact. Last year there were screenshots posted of rl 3d artists who had blueberry inc on their resume. Claiming they were making content for blueberry for an unannounced “open world” game. It was posted several times on plurk. These artists based on the wording in their profiles probably are not aware of the fact blue is reselling their content. They are under the impression they are doing outsource work for an open world game lol.

You may say making meshes that fast that often is possible, but if you don’t take my word for it, go watch hundreds of professional 3d artists who stream their work on twitch every day. Sit through one 4-5 hour session and see how much modeling gets done by a real professional. Then compare that to the rate you see some of these brands release content.

There is a lot that doesn’t add up, from rate of release, inconsistency in skill level of various items, the fact almost every apple fall product there is a existing 3d model of it on a site that sells models. If these designers are better and more efficient than professional artists working in the industry, yet you never see any art presence from them, no portfolio, no work streams, nothing. Just products being released.

None of it adds up or makes sense, and when things don’t add up and don’t make sense, it means there is something fishy going on. Everyone was defending CP over the years when she got accused in the same manner too. ‘oh she is a professional” or “she works really hard” “oh she works really smart and works really fast i have WATCHED HER work!!!!”. How many more times are you people gonna get duped the same exact way? Even a monkey would have figured it out by now.

              1. @ lolwhat I am sorry but you are either slow or unexperienced. A building can be meshed in 12 hours, with Substance Painter you can texture that building in 3-4 hours top. You need 12-16 hours to render with a good computer. You need 2-3 hours to upload and fix everything, 1-2 hours to add animations, 1-2 hours to make a good vendor with some good experience, 30 minutes to set up a vendor, 1 extra hour to mesh a simple booth, 20 more minutes to set up at an event including demo. Hard working asses do that. As far as a set, 2 days are enough to model 5 good items and the rest is the same. Basically, working 12 hours a day without social media bullshitting, a good home & garden designer will be able to release 1 medium-big release a week and depending on how inspired they are, add a smaller release to that week. That can make up to 8 releases a month. But y’all are “Everything Experts”. It’s very easy to come and sit behind a screen and bash about everything and everyone’s work without thinking about the consequences of this act. This thread hurts deep the great majority of hard working designers in SL with its pure ignorance about workloads. Hard working designers reading this are laughing on your face right now. This discussion generates distrust. 24-36 hours work from designers that sell their hard working sweat and tears for 50 cents of a dollar for a backslash from ignorant people like you. And the eyes land on people with real talent while others like Felgo, selling turbosquid skyscrapers on marketplace for a bargain, L$ 2,499 (LMAO) that probably took him 2 hours to prepare and upload, no one gives a shit. But y’all super fair here right?

          1. Ok let’s get this cleared up here even though it gets posted a thousand times people still don’t seem to understand. NO content purchased online is for resale, none. I have not seen any, if you know of a single website that allows resale of their products post the link here.

All these sites that sell 3d content do not allow re-sell, they allow the products to be used in games, provided the game is being sold as a single unit and the products within are not being sold inside another game. What does this mean? if you make a game, be it mmo, single player, multiplayer using their content it is ok. However you cannot sell their content in an open source game, because SL is a virtual platform not a game, therefore it is the same as selling it on another website.

Second point is, use your fucking common sense, if the price of the item is significantly less than it would cost to hire a mesher to mesh it for you then it is NOT FOR RESALE. Who the fuck would sell full perm/re-sell allowed content at $50 dollars?????? If you know of a single place that sell content like that post it here.

Basically in short, stop being such a fucking idiot and use your common sense.

The thing is it needs to be brought to their attention. Someone needs to let these people know and post the links as well. Sadly it was brought up on the second life forums. I think 3d creators need to file a lawsuit again linden lab. MAYBE THEN linden lab will wake the fuck up. Even some of the Linden staff need to be fired because they aren’t do anything to stop this nonsense and I know they KNOW some of this 3d product are being resold on second life without the 3d creator’s permission or credit given.

        1. Excuse me, but perhaps none of you is good at looking at details and recognizing if a mesh is the same model or just the same design but a different model.

Among others: the seat on HotPies chair is padded, on Apple Fall’s is flat. Legs on HotPies chair are shorten. Then there are a bazillion little differences here and there making these two interpretations of the same chair, probably an RL design, but definitely a different 3D creation.

Now I understand the fuzz about 3D asset being imported in SL but you should be absolutely sure before you accuse people otherwise this is just a witch hunt.

          1. This is not a “witch hunt”
Second life was meant to be a place of one “OWN” creativity.
No ripping off of other 3d creators, mmos or 3d programmers
without their permission or created give.

Some of these 3d creators make their products for a certain program
For example Daz3d creators. A lot of them do not want their stuff on second life PERIOD!
That is what a lot of resident of second life FAIL to understand.
I for one do not want my 3d creations on second life or resident “reselling” profiting off of my objects. That messes up MY business on Renderosity, daz3d etc.
A lot of those mesh object wasn’t BULDT for second life nor meant for it.

            1. You missed my point entirely. I said you have to be 100% sure before accusing people OTHERWISE is a witch hunt. In regard to the Apple Fall’s items shown in previous comments, they are very clearly not imported from Daz3D nor Turbosquid, nor CG Trader, nor any of the other 3D asset website we all know very well. SO, in this specific case, it’s a witch hunt, because there was no IP infringement, no ToS infringement, nor infringement whatsoever. Now if you want to talk about known infringers, who admittedly imported from said sites, like Cheeky Pea, I’ll agree with everything you want to say but this is just not the case. What’s wrong with knowing facts before making accusations?

              1. The cushion on that couch could have easily been swapped with another. Also all the small adjustments look like a result of decimating a highpoly mesh to bring it to sl and small adjustments with soft selection. If the apple fall couch was made from scratch it wouldn’t look so wonky as it does.

I agree you have to be 100% sure before accusing someone, but you will never ever be 100% sure unless the creator provides proof that the work is their work. (Which is very very easy to do for people who create their own content.) Apple Fall has been accused multiple times in the past and not once has he provided any evidence that he makes his own mesh or does his own work. We are supposed to take his word for it. IMO what Apple Fall does is he downloads a cluster of meshes and then mix and matches pieces that can easily be swapped (such as cushions, chair legs, table tops etc things that are always a separate mesh piece). The way his rendered ads are done are exactly the scenes you get when you buy meshes from sites selling content for visualization renders. No one who makes meshes for SL would take that approach because it is very ineffective.

A lot of evidence points to him downloading meshes, and since he has been accused multiple times, and came out so strong against CP, least he can do is provide proof of his own work.

Until then all signs point to him doing what CP did, he is just a little smarter about it. Dust Bunny is also another very suspicious brand.

I don’t understand.. if you are so sure that your “evidences” point to him downloading meshes why don’t you IM the guy and ask him directly?

              3. I am 200 % sure that 90 % from the meshes in Apple store are from the internet. He keeps thinking that people are stupid. SL can scan and compare the geometry of each mesh model just in case you didnt knew

                Like

              4. Anyone with a good eye in detail and knows how to mesh can see that the curves do not line up, even with the viewing angles being slightly off. Every curve is different and no, decimating would not have done that. Even the legs are different from wedge to straight legged. These are two different 3D creations of the same chair design, nothing more.

SecondLife is full of recreations from real life and the same goes for sites that host 3D creations. Designs are allowed to be similar to each other as long as the work done to create them are done from scratch, even in the digital field. That is how the copyright laws allow real life designers to be inspired by each other, even when they are pretty much replicas and especially in the fashion industry.

You may be miffed that this person is profiting from someone else’s artistic idea of the chair but it is still legal when they build it themselves. You sound like someone who has had others steal from you but that does not give you the right to attack those that aren’t involved for having similar objects, nor does it give you any right to force them to prove anything without actual proof or legal action. You as the accuser must provide substantial proof of guilt (such as matching UVs, polys, etc. or when it is very obviously matching curves and textures.) or else it is a witch hunt.

            1. What you said about how almost all of his stuff is a 3d model somewhere else is key. No real advanced level 3d artist uses other 3d models as reference, you always use real world images because other 3d artists could have made mistakes. When almost all of someone’s release is found as a 3d model somewhere else, that within itself is super suspicious.

      2. Apple Fall releases too many high detailed items too often to be making it all himself. The basic logistics don’t make sense. Add in all the accusations over the years and all these images and it just doesn’t add up. The fact he has never really provided any proof despite the accusations several times make it all the more suspicious.

          1. Doesn’t matter how good you are, the logistics don’t make sense. I bet you are too stupid to understand what that means. On another note, someone who has the ability to model some of the pieces he has released, would be much better at texturing, and wouldn’t texture like a self taught sl noob from 2004. His ads are vray renders, exactly like the render scenes that you get from the above links. Someone who would be at a level to make those models, wouldn’t be taking that approach to render it, no chance.

Also you and your “good eye” you need realize some of those seams you are talking about, are done through height maps/normal maps on the high res models, if he is retexturing them it is likely he will lose some of it, and has to re-do it himself. Anyone who has the ability to model some of the things he has released (and do them at super light speed no human has seen) wouldn’t make their stuff look so wonky. It’s like high detailed pieces are slammed together from various different sources, there is no proper connection pieces, they are not properly fitting each other, look at the chair’s curved side arm and how it connects to the body. That screams noob work, yet some of the modeling is very advanced work. Textures are super noob work, this level of inconsistency in quality and the high volume releases that often 100% suggest illegal work.

      1. Is the official facebook page of the creators of 3ds models uploaded in secondlife by Apple Fall.
        Quoted from Company Overview:

  5. That store is neither the first nor the last.

Using TurboSquid products in Virtual Worlds.
This use is prohibited if the virtual world-type is an open MMO, like Second Life. However, the use is allowed if the MMO is a closed MMO, like World of Warcraft. More specifically, the 3D model may not be exported or sold.

Now that is a very expensive law suit if the creator on Turbo chooses to sue. Really not worth the lindens earned haha.

      1. Even people from Renderosity who don’t use the second life platform has had their 3d products uploaded on there without their permission or credit given. it was mention years ago on Renderosity forms when mesh first was introduced into second life. Even some daz3d model creators did not want their models used on second life. But low and behold.. there are creators using them for SL platform. Even outfits that are only compatible with daz3d are being uploaded and resold on second life. Even some mmo avatars and outfits are being uploaded on here and Linden labs have yet to do anything about that. But once a massive lawsuit comes around. They will take them down. It’s sad that has to resort to that.

        1. They use the DMCA system to keep the lawsuits off THEM. If they start policing this without DMCA’s they will have the spotlight on them as a company and not the ones who are ripping others off. It’s a broken system by far, but when I find copybotted stuff I report to the creator cause most of those idiots that copybot leave the name of the creator and use their ads. With mesh that’s lifted from other sites and brought into SL it’s a bit harder to track down.
I really wish humanity had a little compassion for others and stop ripping each other off. All we can do is alert the ones stolen from and hope for the best.

  8. In the larger picture, there are sites where it’s Not against the TOS to buy and use things similar to these in SL (just not lie and claim you are the 3D artist who made them, as CheekyPea learned by being busted for that!)…but the bigger problem is that MOST of these types of highly detailed assets are not good for SL because they are not optimized for SL use. Textures are big, too many polygons, vertices…they don’t follow the guidelines for best practices for building or use in our world without substantial re-working to optimize them.
Only when people start looking at the wireframes and passing over these dense meshes with too many verts and too large/too many textures will people stop trying to sell them in SL.

    They cause lag.
We need to educate ourselves about good-for-SL content and start voting with our wallet.

    1. I’ve been saying this for a long time. And there are TONS of 3d programs and tutorials they can use to make their own content. Some of these Gacha store owners are lazy. And these event holders don’t give creators enough time to finish their work. You got blender, ZBrush,Maya etc. No excuses for these lazy cheapskates.

  9. This is the deal breaker for me. I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt till now. Even a pesopn that doesnt know how to mesh can tell you this is the same set. Seeing as how they decided to keep it and take thier percentage, then they are just as guilty. If you go to that web site and search loft set, the lights used are a seperate item listed directly before this one.

  10. All I can say is I am glad that the Arcade’s seedy dealings are starting to show in their items. This December was the most disappointing round I’ve ever seen. Very few things said “December” and most of it was trite crap. I hope an event like it comes back- one of my favorite traditions was to play gachas at this time so I could get cute presents for my friends but this event needs to go away.

  11. I never go to the Arcade but I did read all the rules and info from Turbosquid and it very clearly states that nothing is to be sold in Second Life. I guess all these people in Second Life just think they’re immune to having to follow any kind of rules. The other thing that bothers me is the lack of talent and imagination that I thought places like Codex has if they’re resorting to selling someone else’s work. I am extremely naive in this respect I guess.

  12. One Problem here, the set is totally different. If it were an exact copy, then where are the couch, mirrors, and fireplace. I don’t think that anything was taken, and used. I think that it was made by the person who owns Codex. That being said, I cannot stand The Arcade for many reasons. So I won’t shop there, I will most likely get the items, through MP.

I don’t waste money on the luck of the draw considering majority of them (especially at arcade) are rigged so you dont get the rares.
