Event organizers says Event is full, then why these empty stores ? Kustom 9๐Ÿ‘€

Recently we are aware most designers have abandoned their in world stores to produce items majorly for Second Life events which we cannot blame them, since the money is actually rolling in from all these events nowadays. ๐Ÿ™„

But what worries residents and prospective event participants is that some events actually claim quite early on that they are full and not accepting new designers. Good for them, but on the event opening day we are mostly faced with empty stores as seen in this currently displayed at Kustom 9

In the words of a whisperer; “How actually organization fails when event is so to say ”full” with regular designers but they delay or not set up their items on time”

The question is how is this really fair to customers and to those who would like to have a chance to participate. We got referred to one of the good examples – Collabor88 , their Event organizers give a chance to designers to be in the group of guest-designers and every time when a regular designer is not able to participate they offer the spot to someone else. That is the difference between amateur and professional attitude of management. Take note Kustom 9 event organizers and all others we are watching๐Ÿ™„

  1. Flair for Events works very hard to communicate with the designers, deadlines are clear and stated often. We replace anyone not set up by the internal deadline and you can check Seraphim for anyBODY and Men Only Monthly to see there are no MIA’s listed. Big name events aren’t always the best for organization, store selection and actually being ready at open.

  3. I am curious why is there a fixed roster for an event? Would it not be better to let people submit applications to themes? Yep, aware it takes time and resources but otherwise it is like those SL shopping centres gathering traffic while just never changing. Nothing wrong with ptocessing applications from dependable designers first but … usually some do not even try.

Example would be TMD and MoM which allow furniture, landscaping, houses and poses. Sure – have at it as a shop to make profit but with male clothing being a weird niche, it does not apply same as if you added wardrobe stuff to building events. I recall Kustom 9 does have themes as they did few recently … like the military one which was WTF as few designers done fitting stuff.

  4. Hey Whisperers! I am the manager of Kustom9 and I couldn’t agree with you more. This month and the past few have been very frustrating for us as event owners. We opened this month with 9 designers not on time. Some of them notified us with legitimate reasons and some didn’t notify us at all. All of them were handled personally by me and talked to. Also we have some new rules going into place to make sure that there will be consequences for being late more then 3 times. I am a customer at events too and I hate seeing empty booths especially when I know there are designers that are qualified to fill those spots responsibly. With that said there have only been applications open to designers a few times since I have been involved with K9. For the most part K9 will remain an invite only event. The good news is there are so many up and coming stores in SL and we make sure to follow them and invite when we can. This week alone I have invited 4 new stores. We also try to keep a good ratio of the kinds of products we offer. So one month we may decide we need more clothing designers and the next more hair designers. We honestly do the best we can. You are always welcome to message me and I will be open and honest with you. I do really like the way C88 has a guest designer group and we are looking into making that something for Kustom9 as well. โ™ฅAnnie

What a load of crap. C88 opens with loads of empty stores each round too and their regulars are NEVER replaced. If you go look days after opening, you will see these regulars with curtains over their stores, no new “guest” setup at all!! If you want a good example, look to We Love RP or any of the events run by Skye Everidge. THEY replace late/no setups, not C88.

    • Let’s hope not. These events are ridiculous. First off, you can’t even get in the damn places. There are too many people there that are AFK . You need a booting system for this, so you can leave more people in. Either get a full sim and allow more shoppers, or put time limits and boot the people afk that just clog the sim.
