You know when come to think of it after reading all these alts etc, maybe there are few psychopath inside sl. They enjoy the mind game while busy mastrubating on the side. It is their split personalities syndrome and mental depression, they find themselves better by collecting all these stupid victims and play their mind days in days out. Their emotion become their drugs. The more intense and deeper the emotion gets in the better they feel. Just watch all those psycho movie, sl is the perfect real example. Be careful everyone with who you are dealing with there.

A while back I had a talk with a psychologist about the reasons people in SL and on the internet generally, behave the way they do, a lot of times in ways they would never behave, talk etc in real life. He explained in detail how this way of communication (written, immediate, impersonal), actually has an effect on the brain that changes the neurological responses we normally have in direct communication.
This is not an excuse, do not get me wrong. This was my point too, to him, that since we do realise our behaviour changes on the internet and we still have the same moral beliefs as before, we are able to stop ourselves at one point. His response was that the most intelligent of us are able to do that, but the less intelligent or the ones with personality disorders pro-existing, are unable to do so. Quite often, they do not WANT to, either.

I have dealt with few psycho inside sl too myself. In the beginning i did not notice it at all but after a while things start to get messy and inconsistent. I found it interesting for me to do my own observation. I study the subject closely, i even analyze his move on sl and on flickr. You know human is pretty predictable when come to taste and style. It is so easy to spot the similarities. Too many coincidence is not a good sign either. It is like playing chess to game the mind of a psycho. At the end i did not find it worth my time anymore. I left the game and the circle. I do not find sl worth spending every drop of second of my time. I rahter read books or watch movies π

People invest so much of themselves into an avatar and you have to question why? What makes someone lose those morals and cross over lines they wouldn’t dream of doing in reality? Is it for the thrill, I don’t honestly think so.
I think most do as it makes them feel power, For whatever is missing in reality, they find a glimmer of it on sl and once they realise they can be popular, socially accepted even ‘famous’ then they go all out to get as much as they can, trampling on people as they do. Crushing emotions as they lie and hurt and when cornered, when held to account, they give every excuse possible to escape the blame. Once they have burnt all relationships on that account, they make another and so it carries on. They can’t leave as the addiction is set , the need to be ‘liked’ is huge and so it all begins again with more innocent genuine players caught in the glare of all their bullshit.

Yes! SL is not a place for moral or value. That is why it can be dangerous for our own stake in real. In reality what guide us is the moral and value in life. Anyway! It is so much of this and so much had been discovered and exposed. I am glad I am no longer there anymore.. i see and watch the social trend from outside sl now until one day when i have no interest of it at all.

I have also left the game due to many of the same reasons as yourself.
I too watch from the outside, and I’m so glad I’m no longer a part of the virtual world which I once very much loved to spend time in.
I have gone back a couple of times, but I no longer enjoyed it and each time the interest I had in it and the people there became less. At first I missed the creativity in SL but I have now found other interests which fulfil the void.
I found a website where people bought avatars and although it’s against the TOS of SL I sold mine. People were very happy to pay good money for ava’s with last names as they felt having a surname gave them some sort of kudos in world!
It also meant that I’d no longer be able to use my avatars as it’s very easy to get one back after deactivating but impossible after selling.
Also if LL found out I’d sold them I’d face a ban but that wasn’t a worry.
I always tried to treat people in SL the same as I did in RL but I found people who you thought were your friends would quickly drop you to get with any guy that gave them the slightest bit of attention. Maybe they were lonely and desperate for attention that they behaved in this way but it just came across as pathetic and very sad.
I look at Flickr now and these people are still there, taking the same sort of pictures, adding their quotes about life or a link to some music that they feel is meaningful, getting with someone, then when they break up, they show their heartbreak, and then very quickly it’s on to the next one and so the cycle continues.
I also made a very big mistake, I got with a guy who was married in RL. I’m married in RL and it got serious. At the time my marriage was in trouble and I thankfully recognised quite quickly that I should be working on it instead of spending time in-world but when I did something and got out of the relationship I was met with anger not just by him but also by his friends (some of who I had never met or talked to) I was IM’d and abused to the point that logging into SL gave me massive anxiety and panic attacks.
Another of the difficulties I experienced in SL was there was very little loyalty.
I expressed my upset and anxieties about the break-up to a close friend who continued to leave my ex supportive messages on his Flickr about how wonderful he was! I’d often confide something that would be bothering me to her and then notice she’d be butt licking the person I was upset with!
Another so called friend got upset as I removed her from my friend list when I was deactivating my avatar.
When I stupidly came back and made contact with her she got angry and vented to her then boyfriend and their friends so they all blocked me on Flickr.
I knew exactly who blocked me as they both had groups in Flickr so it was easy to look down the members list.
Again these friends of theirs were people I had never met or talked to in SL!
These blocks triggered a warning on Flickr and I was reviewed and told that if it occurred again my account may be deleted! I went ahead and deleted it myself as I had no desire to be amongst these sort of people. At the time I was very hurt as I truly enjoyed making images, it was a type of therapy for me to be able to express my emotions through my artwork but looking back now it was the wake up call I needed to get the hell out of SL.
Also included in the people who blocked me was Brandon Taselian.
I’ve seen a lot of negative comments about him on here but I have to say that in my time on Flickr he was very supportive of me and also gave me some good advice. Sadly he felt the need to block me after I removed a comment he left on my stream saying “welcome back freak”
I’d just came back from being in a mental facility and it was unfortunate that he used these words, so I removed the comment and was going to mail him and say it hit a nerve, as he’d no idea where I’d been, and just as he now he calls people “fckers” he maybe thought this was a term of endearment, but I received the block from him also.
I thought I was depressed and asked for help many many times even ending up in a locked psychiatric unit drugged up and numb.
I was told by someone I also thought of as a friend who I’d shared some of my feelings with, that “everyone has depression at some point”, she then posed her avatar, took a pic for her Flickr and added the REM tune “Everybody Hurts” to express herself!
I had been very low after the death of my Father to the same disease that I’m dealing with myself now but what I never shared was that my Father had sexually abused me as a five year old girl.
Yes, everybody does hurt and at no time did I ever say that my hurt was greater than hers or anyones.
During a time when I went back to SL I met someone through Flickr who became very special to me and we shared a massive amount of our RL though email.
As time went on I began to feel upset and anxious that she’d only share her alt’s name with me and not her main ava so I told her I was no longer going to email because of these trust issues. I had hoped that we could resolve the situation but we couldn’t and I was met with anger from her which made me very sad, even now I wonder how she is and what she’s up to.
I also made a lovely friendship with a sweet lady but she only mails me to wish me Merry Christmas. Every time I have mailed her it takes a very long time for her to reply and she makes up excuses but I know she’s busy in SL with her new love and because I’m no longer in SL I no longer feature in her life.
I very much regret wasting so much time on SL because right now I realise how very precious RL and the people in it are.
My SL wasn’t all bad I did meet some people who touched my life but RL is amazing, you can’t feel the wind in your hair and the sand on your toes on a virtual beach.
I’m very ill now and after finally being listened to and having lots of tests and scans I have a diagnosis and treatment plan. I have a serious physical illness, everything is not now put down to depression and mental health issues.
A lot of the time I’m confined to bed or indoors and because of this it would be very easy to get sucked back into SL, but I won’t as the desire is now gone. I still occasionally look at the secrets site and this one and also at Flickr but in time I guess that’ll all stop too.
I came to this thread to read about Hikaru, I don’t know the woman/guy so can’t comment but I don’t think a RL picture should have been shown and I’m pleased to see it’s now been removed, but in coming here somehow I have ended up typing a small part of my SL story.
Maybe no-ones going to read this and maybe no-one cares but to anyone who does please please live your life while you can in the real world not through a computer game.

I have to wonder what is the education level and mental stability of these adults on second life and Flickr. The majority of women are middle aged anywhere from 35-65 and must feel some need to post Avatar Pornographic pictures. I too have left Second Life over what it has become – Sex Life. I left Flickr as well. Back in 2014 the pictures were very beautiful and professional looking. Look on Flickr now and all you see are big tits and asses in some strappy creation of the day. Have you ever seen this amazing thing that looks a bit like a brick? It is made out of trees and other humans might call it a book, I heard that you can find them in places called libraries. While DSMs are not very great psychological resources – you can at least skim through those. Since you seem to mention those split personalities – get out of that time machine and out of 70s. No one openly admits to real family and friends that they play second life and those who try mostly get laughed at or misunderstood. Fine use it for fun, to socialize and meet people from all over the world, that was the initial plan all started with. I honestly don’t see why people care about what anyone does in their SL. As long as said person isn’t hurting someone, what they do irl and SL should be a concern to absolutely no one. That being said, I’m a girl irl who plays both male and female. Sometimes I feel comfortable playing as male because as someone who deals with gender identity issues irl, using the game as a way to sort of embody such is a good way to live as a male without having to make any rash decisions in real life.
Of course, if you take things beyond SL, there are consequences to such. A girl I once dated felt I catfished her because I am a girl irl, but was playing a male avie once we really started talking beyond SL. I felt bad, but that’s what people have to learn if they’re playing a character they know they really aren’t.
It’s good to be upfront with people on the game before further investing yourself into anyone on the game.

You’d be surprised the number of criminals and trolls that years ago played SL by crashing sims and copybotting that are now SL creators, and ‘famous people’, cause of the money they stole. 4 years in SL for Corina to do Cosmopolitan is exactly right at the time after the attacks from script kiddies happened in SL, the attacks happened before that, in fact. We don’t know what we are dealing with.
Simply by the way Corina acted, she has no credibility at the moment. None. A person who has a business like that in SL should refrain herself from this sort of drama. Cosmopolitan lost all credibility because of what Corina did. I’m hoping all designers working with Cosmopolitan to pull back and let her dry out. Hell we’ve been spreading her photos and real fb amongst each other since 2013 when this all came out. I know this is old but has this been confirmed or brought up anymore? Ive seen him post pictures rl tid bits here and there on Flickr, I believe the last one he showed a picture of his broken hand (wrapped up thankfully) and it did appear to be a manβs hand. Anything can be false when it comes to SL but I just find it hard to believe that someone would try to keep up a lie like that for this long and even go to the extent of putting up fake pictures in 2022.

No idea how why is there any drama – I absolutely have no idea how all photo editors in question identify (clicked as I follow Hikaru and Mr. Lambert but I don’t know them so unless they posted they’re women somewhere, they remain genderless to me like everyone online unless I am their friend). Posting someone’s private photo is not best thing unless it is publicly posted (I assume it’s not?). Not that I’m better as googled Hikaru and the avatar blog says ‘Andrej Pejic is my idol’ and last post is from this year so no way they’d not know it is Andreja (to be fair, it is a slavic thing as names are very gendered so ‘Andrej’ is always male while ‘Andreja’ is always female – it is rare to have an unisex name).

Corina Wonder’s identity on FB is Isidora Ε tajduhar. Bottom line is there’s no way Corina’d have a talk on skype with Hikaru, much less with a camera on. She states in her FB comments that she has Hikaru blocked for over a year now. So, how did she have access to a RL photo of this woman that she claims to be Hikaru, but we really don’t know? The only person connecting Corina and Hikaru is Mr Lambert, so I don’t see why some people cannot mention her name – Lambert’s I mean – in this situation. The photo – if it’s indeed Hikaru’s real life face – doesn’t deserve any comment from Corina – if the woman is ugly or dirty. In my opinion all this drama should have stayed a private matter, since Second Life is just a fantasy land and anyone can be whom or what ever each decides to be. That’s just HALF the truth, too. The issue with Hikaru is that in his attempts to manipulate and silence people in SL, he has bullied and terrorised others for years, making some of them so scared of him/her, that they had to leave SL to avoid him/her. This is not OK in so many levels I cannot begin to explain. I find it absolutely fascinating how you attempt to defend Ms. Hikaru. While many avatars on Facebook are using their avatar photographs, it hardly constitutes as the same level of catfishing as Ms. Hikaru partakes in.
Exhibit A: Placing a picture of ones avatar as a profile picture is fooling no one, since I am confident no one actually believes someone can be a cartoon.
Exhibit B: Ms. Hikaru pretends to be a man. She engages in relationships leading her significant others to believe she is male. That is not okay. If Ms. Hikaru was forthcoming about her gender behind her male avatar, then that is fine. But Ms. Hikaru is not.
Do you see the difference between Exhibit A and Exhibit B?
